How are goLance jobs structured?
That is up to the goLance individuals working on the project. Jobs can be structured either in terms of milestones, or on an hourly basis for longer-term projects. Both the freelancer and the employer must agree on an hourly or fixed-price milestone set-up before the project can begin. It is important to keep in mind that goLance jobs are paid differently depending on their structure. For hourly positions, employers will pay at the end of the week when all of the hours for the week have been submitted. For fixed-price jobs with milestones, employers will fund and release each milestone as they are completed.
What is the goLance commission fee?
Good question. goLance keeps fees simple for users with a standard 10% commission fee deducted from every project payment. We do not have fees for withdrawing money or costly membership plans. Our goal is to create a platform where freelancers are able to earn as much money as possible with as much support as possible without limitations.
How do hourly workers track the time?
Hourly workers can easily track their time with goMeter. The easy-to-use app makes it possible for employers to view screenshots of work and for freelancers to guarantee that their hours are tracked. To use the app, freelancers simply download the app and then install it. Then freelancers log in to the app and begin work. If a freelancer or employer wants to review work hours, they can access the progress report in the “My goLance” tab under “Work Diary.”
How often does the goMeter app take screenshots of my work?
The goMeter application takes approximately one to two screenshots every ten minutes. The app varies timing to make it easier to monitor freelancer’s work habits.

Absolutely. The goLance platform is designed to ensure greater flexibility in working with exclusive and non-exclusive contractors on a project-by-project basis. You can hire the people you need when you need them.
How do I determine which freelancer is the best fit for my job post?
We recommend that all employers screen their freelancers thoroughly for the best results on the goLance platform. Interview potential freelancers by asking a series of screening questions. From here, conduct phone or Skype video interviews to see who best fits the job requirements. Make sure that you review the freelancer’s work samples and resume as well. If you still aren’t sure or want to be careful, ask for a list of references and give them a call. We guarantee that you will find a freelancer that is a perfect fit for your project on our site.

Once your freelancer has completed his or her job, you may leave feedback for the freelancer. This feedback should include a message (that will be made public) about the freelancer’s work and a star rating (from 1 to 5). The freelancer will also leave feedback for you. The feedback exchange helps keep our freelancers and employers honest on the site as well as provide a valuable verification method for both parties.
Do I have to pay any fees to use your platform?
No. We charge a 10% commission fee on each payment made, which means that the 10% fee will come out of the payment that you make to your freelancers. We do not charge fees for posting jobs or awarding jobs. We also do not charge any membership fees.
How can I get started on goLance?
It’s as simple as filling out a profile including past jobs, results of skills tests, and portfolio items. Once your profile is complete, you are ready to start searching for work!
How much of my profile should I fill out?
The simple answer? As much as you can! The truth is that employers like to know who they are working with and a freelancer with a profile that does not include past job experience; portfolio items or a work bio is less likely to be hired. We recommend filling out a work bio that explains what you do best and what you are passionate about within your industry first. Then we recommend adding past jobs complete with information about your responsibilities in those past jobs. From here, education should be added and a few skills tests should be taken to help you rise in the goLance search ranks. You can also add social media links such as LinkedIn, Upwork, Facebook and Twitter. We also recommend adding a photo of yourself to your profile to help employers verify that you are a real person and provide a more human connection. Once your profile is complete, you’re ready to start searching for work!
How do I apply for work?
To apply for work, log in to your account and click on the “goWork” tab next to the “goHire,” “goWallet,” and “goReferrals” tabs. This will take you to the complete list of jobs available on goLance. To the right, you will see a search query where you can type in a keyword such as “writing” or “web design” to help narrow down the job selection. You can also choose a “category” to view all of the jobs within a particular category. Freelancers can also choose job type “by hour” or by “fixed cost” as well as the job duration. These choices make it easy to narrow down the search field to find positions that are perfect for YOU!
What are the main job categories on goLance?
The goLance job categories include Accounting & Consulting, Admin Support, Customer Service, Data Science & Analytics, Design & Creative, Engineering & Architecture, IT & Networking, Legal, Sales & Marketing, Translation, Web & Mobile & Software Development, and Writing. There are also sub-categories within each main job category, which is what freelancers select when they join the platform. Freelancers are able to select up to 10 different sub-categories and work within those sub-categories. An example of sub-categories would be sub-categories blog writing, business writing or academic writing under the “Writing” main categorgy.
Will employers be able to find me?
Yes, employers will be able to find you on their own if they search for freelancers. However, many employers post their job listing online and wait for freelancers to apply. We recommend that all goLance freelancers maintain an active profile for the goLance search results, but also apply to jobs as needed.
What should I do if I took on a project too big to finish?
This is another area where goLance rises above its competitors. We offer a flexible job platform so that you can hire other goLancers when you need to for projects that are too big for you to finish on your own. You can create contracts with other goLancers and assign them your extra work giving you better control over your workload while still satisfying your client.
